Making Laundry Greener

gaiam-greenwashExtremely intrigued is the feeling that we got when we stumbled upon these GreenWash Laundry Ball ($29) on Gaiam.com. These laundry balls are made to take the place of chemical-laden detergents. Reviews on the website have all been quite positive.

How does it work? Just pop one GreenWash ball into your washer and run your normal cycle. Each ball contains natural ceramics that change the pH of the water which allows water to soften and penetrate into the fabric. It sounds like you still need to pre-treat any stains you might have with either detergent or mixture of baking soda & water though. One ball is supposed to last three years or 1,000 washes.
